In 2024, Prado Silos has bolstered its position as a global benchmark in the manufacturing of large-scale storage solutions, thanks to its combining innovation, sustainability and international expansion.
This year, Europe’s most-experience silo manufacturer has made key improvements to its products, expanded its logistics operations and consolidated its leadership on strategic markets; it has yet again stood out as the preferred partner for managing bulk materials in a changing global landscape.
Prado Silos continues to expand its international presence with noteworthy projects in Latin America, Europe and Asia. In 2024, the company has closed over 80 deals worth a total of €18.8 million, up 27% on 2023. Furthermore, the project portfolio continues to grow with over €9 million contracted for delivery in 2025, 15% more than in the previous year. Thanks to this growth, Prado Silos is operational in 38 countries and has left its mark for the first time on markets such as Sri Lanka.
Projects such as biomass storage in Uruguay and of cereals in Lithuania among its success stories reflect the ability to adapt to the specific needs of each customer.
In Venezuela the deployment of corn silos is proof of the ability of Prado Silos to provide tailor-made solutions on complex markets, by optimising logistics and guaranteeing the grain quality, a crucial aspect for food security in the region.
In Mexico Prado Silos bolstered its leadership as a key supplier for corn and sorghum storage, strengthening its position in the North-American food sector.
Prado Silos has introduced ZM310 coating in the manufacturing of its metal silos, extending its application from the roof to the cylinder. This material, consisting of zinc, aluminium and magnesium, offers three to five times more protection against corrosion than traditional coatings. Furthermore, its dense and compact structure is applied uniformly, even on complex surfaces such as the silo reinforcements and ferrules.
Thanks to its self-healing properties that results in greater protection of the areas exposed during the manufacturing or assembly processes, ZM310 guarantees a longer service life in tropical or industrial settings, reducing the risk of structural damage and making operations safer.
Prado Silos’ consolidation as a benchmark in biomass storage solutions stands out as one of its most important achievements in 2024. Thanks to advanced technologies developed specifically for this sector, the company has improved the safety and efficiency of its products, shoring up its recognition in the harshest environments. Furthermore, an ambitious project focused on developing structures has been launched; Prado Silos continues to work closely with strategic partners to increase its portfolio and adapt to the requirements of the most complex and sophisticated projects.
Thanks to this tailor-made approach, 20% of this year’s projects have included customised designs and specific products, consolidating Prado Silos’ reputation as a trusted partner for storage solutions adapted to each customer’s specific requirements. Furthermore, the opening of a new logistics centre close to the production plant and of large communication infrastructures has been crucial to managing a greater volume of shipments, as it optimises operational flexibility and makes the whole logistics chains more efficient.
Indeed, the opening of the new logistics centre in Barakaldo (Bizkaia) has been another major milestone in 2024. These 2,500 m² facilitates double the company’s logistics capacity, which leads to more efficient order management, shorter lead times and operational cost savings. This logistics centre is equipped with advanced technology to optimise operations and stock management, ensuring a higher quality service and better customer experience.
Productive capacity has also been bolstered in 2024. Prado Silos has made significant investments in its industrial plant, with the introduction of state-of-the-art machinery, such as a combined punching and laser cutting roll-forming line, a CNC hydraulic folding machine and a three-roller bending machine.
These advanced tools have led to greater efficiency and precision when manufacturing critical components, which guarantees consistent quality and quicker responses to the market’s needs. These improvements at plant level have resulted in shorter production times and greater possibilities to personalise products.
Prado Silos has developed innovative designs that optimise the filling and emptying of silos, essential aspects for industries with fast production flows. Those designs meet the most demanding European regulations, ensuring uniform loading distribution and greater structural integrity. Integrated automation systems and real-time monitoring also improve the safety and productivity of the operations.
The new designs include specialised solutions for the most frequent filling and emptying cycles such as discharge silos combined with lorry or train, which reduce waiting times and optimise internal logistics for large-scale projects. This not only leads to greater operational efficiency, but also minimises the environmental impact as it reduces the need for additional resources.
In 2024, Prado Silos has bolstered its global presence by attending leading events, such as FIMA Agrícola in Zaragoza, VICTAM Asia in Bangkok, and the Rice Market & Technology Convention in Mexico.
These trades fairs have been the opportunity for the company to showcase their innovations, create closer ties with new customers and consolidate its leadership position on the international storage solutions market.
The Prado Silos team has grown significantly in 2024; there are now 52 of us working together to take storage excellence to more customers around the world. This additional staffing has allowed a second production shift to be introduced to respond to the growing number of orders and to guarantee on-time deliveries. With these new recruits, Prado Silos has bolstered its commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Prado Silos remains firmly committed to sustainability. Its designs reduce the carbon footprint by means of efficient storage solutions and the use of advanced materials such as the S450GD+ZM310 steel, which extends the service life of the silos even in the harshest conditions. Furthermore, improved logistics and productive processes contribute to a more environmentally friendly business model.
The new logistics centre also plays a key role in the company’s sustainable strategy, as it optimises transport routes and cuts the associated emissions. These initiatives have boosted Prado Silos’ commitment to a cleaner and more efficient future.
2024 has been a year of great advances for Prado Silos. The combination of technological innovation, international expansion and sustainability has consolidated the leadership on the global storage solutions market.
Investments in machinery, the logistics expansion and the new structural designs reflect the ability to adapt to a competitive environment and the commitment to operational excellence.
Prado Silos shows that it is possible to balance growth and sustainability, by offering storage solutions that not only meet current needs, but also contribute to a more efficient and sustainable future.
