Prado Silos is starting a new chapter with the relocation of all its operations to Mungia, (Province of Biscay, SPAIN), the town where the company started over 70 years ago. Going back to where it all began isn’t just a nostalgic step: it’s a bold, well-defined strategy to shape the future through a more integrated, efficient and sustainable production model. The new headquarters brings together all divisions —offices, research and product development, production, warehousing, and logistics— under one roof, in a space exclusively dedicated to the development and manufacturing of steel silos. This streamlined setup is designed to reinforce our operational capacity and respond more swiftly and effectively to clients around the world.
Going back to Mungia (SPAIN) isn’t just about returning to our origins—it’s about looking toward the future with renewed purpose. More than 70 years ago, this Biscayan town was where it all started for Prado Silos, and now, it’s once again the beating heart of our operations. This move is both a tribute to our roots and a practical decision to optimise the way we work. Bringing together our technical, commercial, logistics, and production teams under one roof allows to streamline processes and strengthen the synergies that drive our business forward.
The centralisation of operations not only optimises internal processes but also provides a clear competitive advantage: increased efficiency, shorter delivery times, more sustainable production, as well as enhanced quality controls. With this move, Prado Silos builds a solid foundation for future growth, with a commitment to innovation and a forward-thinking vision to extend the company’s leading position at the cutting edge of the steel silo industry.
For years, Prado Silos has been producing entirely in the Basque Country, a fact that many people are still unaware of. By centralising all operations at one location focused exclusively on the development and production of steel silos, the company reinforces its identity as a locally rooted manufacturer, committed to proximity while focused on global-scale projects.
The new facilities in Mungia have enabled Prado Silos to bring together all core divisions: product engineering, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution. This optimised model allows the company to deliver a more responsive service in line with market changes, and greater flexibility when adapting to the requirements of each project. The logistics section features a dedicated distribution centre, strategically designed for optimal connectivity to the main shipping routes in northern Spain. In this way, Prado Silos deploys a quick and effective management of shipments to more than 120 countries, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of every order.
Prado Silos’ commitment to national production is paired with the use of premium steel sourced from Europe’s leading steel mills. The company keeps a consistent stock of S450GD+ZM310 steel, a topic we’ve explored in detail on our blog, thus allowing for efficient production planning and greater security in delivery times.
The material’s high mechanical strength (minimum 450 MPa) combined with the ZM310 coating—consisting of zinc, magnesium, and aluminium—sets a new standard for corrosion resistance. With its superior performance under extreme conditions and impressive deformation capacity, this material facilitates the construction of lighter, stronger silos that are easier to transport. This leads to reduced transport and installation costs, along with improved logistical efficiency.
Based on its pioneering experience in the use of these materials, Prado Silos has been able to fully optimise and adapt processes, parts and machinery to get the most out of this product. Very few steel silo manufacturers can boast the necessary know-how and resources to process this type of steel with the highest level of precision and efficiency.
The combination between long-standing experience and technological adaptability has been a constant in Prado Silos’ history. Since its founding more than seven decades ago, the company has consistently evolved alongside the market, guided by a strong commitment to exports and a growth strategy rooted in technical excellence. Prado Silos’ current steel silo soutions are the result of sustained research, development, and strategic investment in manufacturing. This path is mirrored in the trust placed by clients, partners, and collaborators, as well as in the strengthening of the company‘s presence across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Returning to Mungia marks a stage of industrial maturity that makes us look to the future with confidence. Prado Silos has consolidated a robust and flexible model, focused on quality. With teams now working more closely together, communication is more fluid and the design of customised silos becomes more efficient.
Today, Prado Silos stands as the most experienced silo manufacturer in Europe, boasting the continent’s newest factory. The company has reached this position by prioritising customer needs, investing in cutting-edge technology and skilled professionals, and consistently embracing advanced materials. Operating from its new headquarters, the commitment remains unchanged: driving forward innovative, sustainable, and long-term projects to provide tailored storage solutions worldwide.
